Goodness library’s feel underrated. My cousins were extras in the remake of this film. And I just recall the book being read to us as children. Thanks for the reminder.
Basically, love should takes its route to the hearts of people regardless the mechanism because the base is the good faith. Goodness is one of the most important forms of love which featured in charity, honesty, cresdibilty and so on. on the other hand, the absence of good norms means the negatives appear in life. Thus, love is not about a desire, it is a need.
Actually, I am immensely surprised that E.B.White was a sensitive man. Because until today, though Charlotte’s Web was one of the most important book of my childhood, I had always that E.B. White was a woman!
Thank you so much for this. This book was so important to me that I wrote something vitally important that I didn’t want to forget on its end pages when I was around 6, knowing that the hardback copy of Charlotte’s Web was one item that would never leave my possession. And yes, 54 years later, I still have it.
It’s going to sound weird if I say it in a comment so after writing this comment this morning, I had already decided to write a post about it.
It was needed, too. When I was 46, I had a sudden memory, while I was writing my first novel The Marlowe Papers, and thought ‘did I remember that right?’ I had this feeling I’d written it on my copy of Charlotte’s Web (which I hadn’t looked at for decades). Found the book - and there it was. My suspicion confirmed. Got goosebumps.
But yes, I’ll have to do a post about what it a actually was, because it’s part of a bigger story. This week, maybe, if I’m feeling brave enough!
Beauty of creation come within, solitude of a soul love... Make me think of the perfect quiet life question I feel E.B found that for himself... I want to thank all the parents out there who aloud there children to be free to explore, to create, to find themselves weather it be on a sport field or the quiet solitude of a library drawn into the depth of pages is truly one of greatest gift you can give a child; the freedom to find themselves ,in my opinion ... Beautiful Journey however it may be found💙 P.S I go find Charlotte Web!
Many of the best memories of my childhood were because the librarian let me take out the maximum number of books each week in my small town. So much care and comfort was found there...and continues to be found there between the stacks. Thank you for sharing this, Susan...and for reminding us of the gentle souls who bring us such light.
This was beautiful reading for me. Thank you for writing this. ♥️
Do I know someone like this? Yes, he is a man of contentment and quiet wisdom. I aspire to be even an inch of him who refuses to be bothered by hatred in the world.
I definitely dove into the comments, I am on my lunch break at work & doing that happy weepy thing. Sensitive me . I loved Charlottes web & in fact begged my mother to not prepare animals for food anymore. She at least allowed that for me although every one else still indulged. To this day still saving pigs & spiders etc.. and to hear the love of libraries & books , you guys get it & it is the most fortunate soul that has found their way through the doors of a library. I grew up directly next door to one & proceeded to spend countless hours perusing books on oversized couches. Lovely. I’m logging off to find a copy of the Swan book. Thank you for feeding my soul substackers❣️
In the novel, Charlotte said, "never hurry and never worry." This easy-on-the-tongue phrase is pasted above my home computer and reminds me to slow down, especially after heart racing cups of coffee. Never hurry, and never worry. Wilbur needed those words, and I think all of us do too.
Those who treat animals as special friends are indeed angels on this green Earth. I am grateful that E.B. White decided to become a novelist and share his special kinship with the world.
A book is the best gift item, in my view. A library provides a treasure house books, new and old. Programs and or librarians who provide guidance on what to read are indispensable too. For an understanding and supportive world we need more quiet reading and more sharing
I do remember “Charlotte’s Web”, it was a great book! I remember as a kid I would try to save spiders in the house before my Dad saw them because he would often spay them with Raid and I would get so upset. I would put them in a cup and release them outside. I did the same with other insects that were in the house. I always had a love for other sentient beings. Even as a very young child. It’s part of who I am.
I was just today speaking about my love for E.B. White. I read his book of essays that I found in my mother’s things after her passing. It helped me feel close to her. It also reminded me of my childhood and the stories of his that I loved. My favorite is Stuart Little. His gentle soul comes through in his writing. Thank you for sharing.

wow - what was the vitally important thing? (if you don't mind saying)

I just got goosebumps too, reading this.
Write the post! (you can always decide not to share it later - as I know you well know...)

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I always thought EB White was a woman. His gentleness certainly does shine through his writing.
Well you’re in good company. Big fan here, yet he was a woman to me until 9 this morning!

Oh my, Susan. That quote about books. Brought tears to my eyes. Simply beautiful.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
Blessings for a rich and joyful Easter, dear Susan with your family. x

~I will be reading Charlottes Web again.. this year my 7yo grandchild read it as homework
for 2nd grade.. usually at bedtime with his Mom. My daughter shared with me
he was surprised and saddened when Charlotte dies.. next time when we were together
there was a spider on the wall and i mentioned maybe it was one of Charlottes relatives..
"I know you read "Charlottes Web".. it was so sad when she died." He surprisingly replied
"How did you know?!" I said" because i read the book to your Mom when she was a little girl"..
Thank you Mr. White for introducing a harsh reality of this beautiful life.. simple, direct, and tenderly
into the the gentle growing souls of our children. Eternally Grateful, Nana~

I offer two listening ears. And the desire to contaminate and contaminate myself with new stimuli.
It is banned in all Florida schools right now!
Charloette Web is banned in Florida? that crazy wonder what there reasoning was...
It deals with death. No joke
