I do various styles of expressive writing; haiku, verse, typed, written, but I find voice typing/voice notes to be very therapeutic and rarely mentioned. I live alone after 27 years of marriage and family and I don't get to talk to people as much as might be healthy (and honestly I don't require much interaction). I wonder if that's why I like doing this? Either way, it feels cathartic to express strong feelings this way, and friends and family are not a validating place for my strong feelings.
I’m going to try that: dictation. I have a chronic pain condition that, most recently, is causing a lot of pain in my hands, which makes it difficult to write or type
Thank you for mentioning voice notes. I am in the same situation, post divorce after 25 years, grown children, and happy with my own company. I've recently discovered that I like voice to text notes after years of journal writing; I can get many more thoughts captured in a shorter time and somehow can imagine I'm sitting with a dear friend sharing my inner world over tea.
