Today, three treasures to restore your faith in humans:
Our latest installment of the Quiet Life community art gallery, in which I invited you to share your art, poetry, and other work — and hundreds of you took me up on that invitation. Did you scroll through to see all the treasures there?? The work above, by Dee Tivenan, is just one of so, so many. But if you spend time in the gallery, what you’ll come away with most is not the beauty you shared, not the talent—but the vast heart and acute sensitivity of this group of humans.
This is a detail of a wall from Persepolis, in ancient Persia—a reminder that amidst the chaos of our history, humans have always loved each other.
This is a letter from E.B. White, the author of Charlotte’s Web. Who is this Mr. Nadeau, and why did White write this to him? I have no idea, but thankfully, he did.
If you have a friend or family member who could use a little uplift today, you can share this with them; and if you’re not subscribed yet to the many treasures that this Quiet Life community has to offer, you can do that here, too.
I’d also love to know whether any of the above gems particularly struck you.

Thank you for your post, Susan. You're keeping something vital alive here and I remain so grateful for it. I'm learning that Mr. Nadeau was a local farmer who took care of the road that led to the lake where E. B. White vacationed. There's and essay by White, "Once More to the Lake," where this gentleman is apparently mentioned. I'm going to track it down.
And such a soft and lovely painting to accompany your writing. Thank you for sharing this here.
I have ALS and every day I need hope and EB White’s letter reminded me that hope , is what all of us need! I’m grateful for all three expressions of your
post today ❤️
