Thank you for your post, Susan. You're keeping something vital alive here and I remain so grateful for it. I'm learning that Mr. Nadeau was a local farmer who took care of the road that led to the lake where E. B. White vacationed. There's and essay by White, "Once More to the Lake," where this gentleman is apparently mentioned. I'm going to track it down.

And such a soft and lovely painting to accompany your writing. Thank you for sharing this here.

Susan - thank you for all of these - just the other day Jane Fonda reminded us of a quote from author Pearl Cleage: "On the other side of the conflagration, there will still be love. There will still be beauty." Thank you for creating a space - a circle of standing stones - where we might be reminded and restored with beauty and love and the touch of kindness that radiates from this group. Maria
